And the parched ground shall become a pool. Isaiah 35:7
Today’s devotional in My Utmost for His Highest, by Oswald Chambers, talks about receiving visions from God. Upon hearing that, you might try to run away thinking, “This is way too mystical for me.” Believe me, I’m inclined to do the same.
How does God give us visions? In a variety of ways, to be sure. I have received inspiration from God while working, while studying, while praying, and if you must know (TMI), even in the bathroom! I’ve rarely received inspiration from dreams, although I know many people have.
Two days ago, however, I had a dream that I believe came from God. It was a dream that gave a glimpse of what I might do for Him. In my thinking, that can’t come from any other source but from God. After all, the devil wouldn’t give me a dream like that.
“We always have a vision of something before it become real to us… God gives us a vision, and then He takes us down to the valley to batter us into the shape of that vision. It is in the valley that so many of us give up and faint. Every God-given vision will become real if we will only have patience… God has to takes us into the valley and put us through the fires and floods to batter us into shape, until we get to the point where He can trust us with the reality of the vision… If you have ever had a vision from God, you may try as you will to be satisfied on a lower level, but God will never allow it.”
Do I have the patience and perseverance to see it become real? I hope I do, because until I do, I will never be satisfied on a lower level. How ’bout you?
